The basic kit, available in a variety of colors, consisted of pieces of medium armor covering the chest, back and lower legs. The advanced kit included a backpack and several additional elements of armor - shoulder shields, armor plates covering the chest and back of the wearer, as well as shin guards for boots. It was not uncommon to see someone wearing basic kit, but with a few pieces of advanced kit.
